About
About Ray's Money Ladder
In short: Ray's Money Ladder is a free YouTube channel that helps Americans 50 and over understand saving, debt, and retirement in plain English, one level at a time. Ray is an animated character. Every video is researched and written by a real person, every figure comes from an official source cited in the description, and nothing is for sale.
Who is Ray?
Ray is the animated host of the channel: a calm, patient man in his mid-fifties, with round glasses and a green tie, who explains money the way a good uncle would at the kitchen table. He is drawn by computer code, frame by frame, in the same flat style in every video.
Ray is not a real person, and he is not a financial adviser. His voice is synthetic. We say it on every page and under every video, because you deserve to know who is talking to you.
Why this channel exists
Money gets more serious after 50. Prices keep going up, retirement gets closer, and a lot of money content is loud, rushed, or trying to sell you something. We wanted the opposite: calm explanations, real numbers, and one step at a time. That is the money ladder: stop the leaks, build a cushion, get out of debt, prepare for retirement, and make it last.
How a video is made
- A real question. We start from questions people over 50 actually ask: Social Security, bills, debt, housing, retirement income.
- Research by a real person. A real person reads the official sources and writes the script, in plain American English.
- Official numbers only. Every figure comes from an official source, such as the Social Security Administration, the IRS, Medicare.gov, the Federal Reserve, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, or the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Examples are clearly labeled as examples.
- A second check. The figures are checked again against the source, and the calculations are redone, before the video is made. Dated figures (for example, yearly limits) are labeled with their year.
- Sources in the description. Every source is listed under the video, so you can check it yourself.
- Animation and synthetic voice. Ray is animated by code and speaks with a synthetic voice, and YouTube's "altered or synthetic content" label is turned on.
